A Christmas Memory

Look at what I found while snooping around at Mom's -- the game drawer!  Yatzee!  Sorry, I often don't have a Clue while I'm on Trivial Pursuits.
That cribbage board in particular has many memories attached to it because, while it's a game like the others, that old thing has been around forever and conjures up some very specific memories playing cribbage with mom.  The pegs are still all there too.  What you don't see in this picture is the other popular games we played as kids -- Yatzee to Monopoly and everything in between -- in the two drawers below this one.
I remember we always got a board game as a family gift at Christmas; and while we did spend some time playing them around the holidays, when I was a teen, the age difference between the oldest child in the family and the youngest didn't necessarily lend itself to common interests in the games.
I do, however, have many fond memories of coming home for Christmas as a young adult while my younger siblings were still home and all of us spending a great deal of time together, catching up with each other, talking and playing these games.  It was a cool time to be a big brother, those early years when we're all adults for the first time.   I'd personally trade all the gifts in the world for one more Christmas like that with the whole family hanging out together and playing some of those old games.

The Outhouse

Sorry for the visual but (no, not visual butt, though the unintended pun is rather funny) -- anyway, recently I was about to sit down on a cold toilet, though it wasn't as cold as expected and thought, "At least it's not an outhouse," which brought back a memory I probably haven't had in 40 years (strange how that happens, huh?)
Am I the only one from my generation who remembers the outhouse at the farm, say nothing about remembering using it?  I know the older generation will.  So as strange as it seems, I'm asking for people's memories of an outhouse.
The other recollection that occurred to me, though I'm uncertain of it now, is that as kids we had to use the outhouse, whether that was only if the bathroom inside was "busy" or whether it was that that bathroom was off limits to us kids.  The latter wouldn't necessarily surprise me because my grandfather had ways like that; for example, nothing to drink with dinner until your dinner was finished.
So any memories you'd like to share would be greatly appreciated -- memories of freezing your ass off, was it a one-seater or two, etc.

Little Memories

Just some short snippets of the things that always pop in my mind when I'm thinking back to growing up around the farm:

Climbing up into the rafters of the barn (and on the roof to the cupola shhhh)
Playing in the "milk room" like it was a playhouse or something
I always loved that falling-down section between the house and the barn, from the egg room to the upstairs of it. To me it was like a step into the past.
Getting a switch off "the apple tree" and using it to throw apples through the barn windows. How far back could you do it?
Always looking forward to haying season, in part because I liked watching the process but also because I loved the newly hayed fields. As much as I loved the woods around the farm, I think I loved the open fields even more.
Always pickup baseball games.
Hitting rocks from the driveway into the field across the road.
Sledding down the hill.
Going over to visit "Great Grammy" and peppermint candies
Sunday night baths and watching "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" and "The Wonderful World of Disney" at Gram & Gramp's.
And of course, walking in the woods

Maybe another time I'll go into specifics incidents but these are more enduring memories, things that were always there about the place.
